A Test of Strength in Moore, Oklahoma

By  |

Issues of tax reform and other legislative matters are being set aside today, as the great state of Oklahoma tries to deal with the devastating tornado that left the city of Moore in shambles and impacted so many lives.

At last report 24 people, including nine children, were killed and more than 200 were injured. Authorities expect more casualties as emergency workers sift through the rubble. Unfortunately even more strong storms are predicted for throughout today.

The people of Oklahoma are a hearty Midwestern lot, and with time, they will certainly recover as they did from a similar storm near Oklahoma City in 1999. In the meantime, we reach out to them with our thoughts and prayers as they begin their journey.

To help the victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes, you can donate to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund or to the United Way of Central Oklahoma. A comprehensive list of ways you can help, as well as places that are accepting donations, can be found here.
